How much powder is there for one day?

It varies from blend to blend, but on average a day’s worth of powder is about three cups. One cup per meal.

Is the oil included with the powder?

No, you have to buy the oil separately. Fortunately, it’s pretty cheap and easy to find at local grocery stores.

How much oil do I need to add?

Again, it varies from blend to blend, but it’s usually between three to six tablespoons of oil per day. Instructions with the exact amount will be included with your order.

What kind of oil can I use?

Canola oil is the most common choice, because it is cheap, easy to find, and has a good balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Olive oil is a good alternative if you prefer to avoid processed oils. Just note that extra virgin olive oil will develop a bitter taste if chopped up in a blender, so only add it after blending if this becomes a problem.

Coconut oil is tasty, and arguably one of the healthiest options available, but it is generally solid at room temperature. If you live in a hot climate or have the patience to melt it completely before mixing, coconut oil is a great choice. Blended thoroughly with powder and water, it will stay liquid even after a night in the fridge.

When do I get it?

You can expect to receive your order within a week or two of payment, depending on which ingredients are in stock and how long it takes to ship. If there are a lot of orders coming in at the same time, it may take up to three or four weeks to arrive.

Will I get a tracking number when my order ships?

Yes, you will receive a tracking number by email, once your order is out for delivery. Usually this will happen within a week of placing your order.

Do I have to pay extra for shipping?

Nope! Shipping is already included in all prices. In other words, free shipping.

How do I use it?

First you have to mix the powder with oil and water. Then, let it chill in the refrigerator for a few hours, ideally. It tastes better that way. And finally, you drink it. Pretty simple.

How much water should I add?

The amount of water is up to you, but generally, two cups of water for every cup of powder is a good guideline. If the mixture is too thick or gritty after sitting for a half an hour, add more water. If it’s too thin, next time try using less.

Do I need a blender to mix it all up?

Some people like using a blender, but you don’t need one. A blender bottle is a convenient and cheap alternative – one bottle is the perfect size for a meal. All you need is three bottles a day.

If you want to go even simpler you can just get an airtight pitcher that you can shake. Depending on the exact blend you are using, that might be good enough. If not, just toss in a blender ball and you should be good to go.

What’s the best way to mix it evenly?

If you’re using a blender bottle or pitcher, there are a few things you can do to make sure it’s easier to mix. The order matters. Many people find that it helps to first pour in a little water, then add the powder, and then pour in the rest of the water. Finally, add the oil (and the blender ball if you have one) and shake. This helps prevent the powder from sticking to the bottom or forming clumps with the oil. Shaking the container upside-down helps too.

If you want the smoothest mix possible, mix only the water and powder and leave that in the fridge for a few hours before adding the oil.

Why do I have to let it sit in the fridge?

Letting the mixture sit in the fridge does two things. First of all, it gives time for the powder to dissolve more thoroughly and for the flavors to mix and mellow out. If the recipe contains ingredients like psyllium husk powder or chia seeds, this gives them time to absorb water and expand, thickening the resulting mixture to a more smoothie-like consistency.

Secondly, it just tastes better cold! Think smoothie or milkshake.

Is it perishable? How long is it good for?

The powder is nonperishable.  It should be good for a year or two, sealed and stored dry. Once mixed with water, it can last for a few days in the fridge. Unrefrigerated, try to drink it within a few hours.

How should I drink it?

However you want! Some people like to drink it in little sips throughout the day, while others split it into a few meals. Just be careful that you don’t chug it down too fast – your stomach might not appreciate receiving an entire meal’s worth of food in a few seconds!

It helps to drink it from a container that you can easily stir or shake, like a blender bottle. That way if the contents start to separate out you can immediately mix them back again.

Can I supplement it with other foods?

Of course! You don’t have to eat it exclusively – just fit it into your lifestyle however you want. Some people like to blend it with a banana, or have it for breakfast and lunch while eating a normal dinner.
