I don’t like to cook. More specifically I don’t like to clean up after cooking. Being a single guy wanting to get into better shape, cooking healthy meals just seemed like too much of a change to have along with starting an exercise routine and diet change. I also didn’t want to spend a fortune on “healthy” ingredients. Furthermore, finding/creating flavorful recipes while keeping my calories in check is way too much of a headache for me, hah. Enter, Schmilk.
I recalled reading about Soylent on reddit months ago. To my dismay, the shipping times for new customers was outrageous. Somehow I found my way to the DIY Soylent subreddit and found Custom Body Fuel/axcho. Everyone had great things to say about his product, so I went all in. I ordered 1 week of Original Schmilk, 1 week of Cinnamon Schmilk, and 2 weeks of Chocolate Schmilk.
Overall impressions:
The texture is, well, if you’ve ever added psyllium fiber to a drink, you get that same texture here. Just the nature of the beast. It’s not necessarily gritty, but you notice it. The rest of the drink was velvet smooth though. The milk I think really helps with this. It mixes well in a blender, but does separate overnight. Nothing a good vigorous shake in the morning doesn’t fix though. I love the fact that I only have to clean a glass and a blender. I don’t have to worry about adding oil or anything which is great. The price is excellent. I mean for the price of a single fast food meal, I’m fed for the day. Yeah it’s not ramen cheap, but it’s also 1000x more healthy than ramen. I also love that the calorie count is built in so I don’t even have to worry about it. And finally the taste. This stuff tastes amazing. I’ll outline my impressions of each flavor next.
CINNAMON
I tried the cinnamon first as this was a flavor I had not really thought would be standard for a meal replacement. Also, upon opening the box, that’s all I could smell and it made me want it! The cinnamon is amazing. It’s not overpowering. The taste is what you’d expect from drinking the left over milk from eating cinnamon toast crunch cereal. It is sooooo goood. The only minor con is it left a VERY SLIGHT metallic aftertaste. Nothing I couldn’t deal with though.
CHOCOLATE
Next up I tried chocolate. To me, unexpectedly, this was my least favorite. After all, I ordered 2 weeks worth of it. It’s not bad by any means, just not as good as the cinnamon or original. I can’t pinpoint exactly why I like it less. Maybe I just expected more after having the cinnamon. I will say that I did not get any metallic after-taste with the chocolate. That could be because I got used to it from the cinnamon already or that the chocolate was hiding it.
ORIGINAL
I must say this is basically a tie with the Cinnamon. I expected this to be my least favorite, but in reality, I really like it. It’s simple flavor profile just tastes like a nice dessert after a heavy meal. Almost like cheesecake or something. I expected to only order the 1 weeks worth of this, but now I’m thinking on my next order it will be 1/2 cinnamon and 1/2 original.
So, that’s my long winded review. I hope it helps people out and I look forward to my journey with schmilk helping me along the way.

Schmilk is my first endeavor into liquid food. I was able to get a supply of original, cinnamon, and chocolate flavor to try and have enjoyed each of them. Cinnamon is my favorite of the flavors as it reminds me of cinnamon toast crunch. Original took a few times for me to get use to since there isn’t too much flavor there but overall it is pleasant. I’m still not used to the chocolate but a little instant coffee or PB2 makes it more flavorful. For anyone needing some flavor changes once in a while I’ve tried a little PB2, instant coffee, pumpkin pie spice, and hazelnut creamer with some success.
I’ve been drinking Schmilk for breakfast and lunch each day, have a healthy snack, and then have a solid food meal dinner. I have also been drinking a 16 oz glass of water with each meal so that I don’t get the stomach cramps that I’ve read about.
Schmilk is making me a healthier person and I look forward to my weigh in and bloodwork at my next doctors appointment.

I’m gonna give it to you guys straight: This stuff is awesome.
For the longest time I didn’t eat breakfast. I ate one huge meal a day every day and I’m pretty sure that’s unhealthy… I felt crummy all evening and even after eating dinner I’d get migraines and feel extremely drained. I heard about Soylent a while back and was extremely interested, but didn’t have the money to pay for it. I saw the DIY boards and did some price calculating, and at the massive quantity of bulk ingredients you have to buy to evade high item markup / shipping prices I wasn’t able to fathom starting to do it myself right now.
Well, Reddit works in mysterious ways and led me to two prominent Soylent DIYers who sold their products. After doing a little more research, it seemed like custombodyfuel was the obvious choice because of the Schmilk prices. I contemplated buying the sampler to see what I liked but didn’t and just jumped on the Schmilk because of the ease of mixing and all I had to add was milk. I’m sure glad I did.
The original flavor reminds me a lot of malted milk. I used to drink malted milk by the gallon as a child, so I really don’t think I’ll be buying any other flavors. I drink about half a liter in the morning and half a liter at lunch time and I’ve never felt better. I’m fully energized and it gives me a nice full feeling that lasts all day. Most importantly, no more headaches!
Get it! You won’t be disappointed!

I tried my husband’s diy-soylent, hoping to share the benefits of increased energy and efficiency of calories & RDA of vitamins/minerals. I physically couldn’t keep down his mixture: the gritty texture was too much. I looked around, found Schmilk, and ordered a week’s worth to try it after reading all the reviews. The taste is good, and the grittiness isn’t bad at all. It’s also a lot more filling than I’d imagined it would be! I’m on Day 2, and I found that after my morning portion today, I didn’t need my daily mid-morning coffee. So thank you! This has been an awesome find!

Just got my order of Chocolate Schmilk. Taste and texture is better than Soylen v1.1. I recommend using a blender to mix rather than shaking in a bottle. Now I am just curious to see how drinking so much milk works out. Will try to post an update on that later. :)

I’m a veteran in the Soylent experiment. I have 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 piled up on my shelves. Unfortunately, though my intellect really liked the idea, my innards had different ideas. The 1.3 had the best result (two psyllium capsules with each meal). But it was a chore.
I received my Schmilk last week. I finished up my blender of 1.3 and then cued up the Schmilk. I use the process where I prepare it in a 2 L Ninja blender and then store the blender container in the fridge between meals. The counter contains mostly the blender engine.
Well, I got me some milk. And prepared the Schmilk in my usual way. High power for a minute or so. And then I poured it into my cup right away and stashed the remainder in the fridge. Took a sip. There was something there. Consulted my taste memory banks and discovered “malted shake”. Already then! Took second sip and it was “Now *that’s* what I’m talking about!” It was glorious. I poured a second cup which was a slight mistake because it made me feel stuffed.
I’m on my third pitcher. The graininess is exactly of the right amount. Gives me something to chew which I like. The blender works this stuff into froth (there’s actually less milk than normal because the blender aerates the mixture so a four litre milk carton yields about 5 litres of Schmilk).
And, while I like to take my psyllium capsules because virtuous, I find forgetting them does not bring biffy doom on my head.
Next order, I might try for the cinnamon for a less dessert-y feel and better self-control.
Axcho I don’t know how you do it. I worry we’re pushing you too hard.

I got the original flavor. It tastes pretty good and I feel better on it than I did on my previous diet. I thought the high levels of manganese might be dangerous, but after doing some research online it seams to be at a safe level.

Really fantastic, tastes like the milk leftover after chocolate cereal but a bit grittier and thicker. I was easily able to finish the whole half a gallon within 20 minutes. If you let it sit a bit the grit goes away and it tastes great.

The schmilk fixed my biggest issue with schmoylent, the grit. The texture is a bit thicker than milk, but there is no grit like with schmoylent. It’s filling, but unlike some of the other soylent style drinks, I find it easy to stay hydrated throughout the day with it. By far my favorite all in one so far. Gonna try it for a week to see if it’s sustainable like soylent and schmoylent is, I’m slightly concerned about that much lactose over a long period, but otherwise I love it.

Tastes really good, I think the milk helps the smoothness a lot. The only problem is it’s kind of gritty, but it’s not really bad, just kind of annoying. For the price this is easily the best soylent alike I’ve seen.

My bag of Schmilk came with the Schmoylent Sampler. So I have about 6 bags of different mixes to work through after this one. However, Schmilk tastes so good that it’s probably spoiled me to the other stuff that I have yet to work through.
I highly recommend this blend for people who like milk and/or milkshakes, AND want a Soylent-type drink/meal replacement to cover all of their nutritional needs. As for the taste, it’s like drinking milk mixed with powdered cereal to me. Like if one were to take one’s favorite brand of cereal and mash it down into powder before mixing it up with whole milk? Yeah, that kind of taste. Other than official Soylent version 1.3, Schmilk has been the only version of “Soylent” type drink that makes me want to drink more and more each time I come back to it.
Last thing I want to point out in my review is that it’s also convenient for travel! At least compared to other Soylent-type mixes that require oil and water. With Schmilk, I can bring the powder with me to my destination, and then drive out to any local store that sells dairy products to grab a half gallon jug of whole milk to mix up a day’s worth of Schmilk!
